1. For Google in 2005, from a business perspective, what are the arguments for and against entering China. The argument for Google entering into business in China is fairly simple. With 1.3 billion possible consumers, it cannot be ignored as an economic opportunity. Even offering a heavily censored and handicapped version of their search engine, Googles revenue producers AdSense and AdWords could still make billions. Google is well known as the worlds most recognized brands and ignoring Chinas vast population from a business sense would be a regrettable decision. The internet has become a very important news and information outlet, providing data to people who would not have had access to it previously. Companies have to work with the government of China to provide the best service they can to the public, while still obeying the rules of the land. Since all print media in China is state controlled, the Chinese looked to the internet for news and entertainment. The Chinese government knows this, and tightly controls all â€Å"outside† internet influence. Taking part in Chinas systematic repression of information from its public is the main ethical argument against doing business with the country. They have been shown to use what the world generally thinks of as illegally obtained electronically-gathered information against dissidents. The Great Firewall of China effectively allows the Chinese government to monitor all information creation and collection by its citizens for data it considers harmful to the state. The Tragedy of Antigone nbsp;In the story of Antigone, Oedipus has already died, his two sons. Polyneices and Eteocles, left to contend for the throne of Thebes. In their contention for the throne, the two brothers slay one another, leaving Creon once again to be the acting regent of Thebes. With this power, Creon declares that Polyneices must be left to rot on the battlefield, the highest disgrace to any Greek. Antigone, daughter of Oedipus, is left torn between state of family, and in the end, chooses family over state. Disregarding Creons edict with grave danger to herself, Antigone ventures to bury the body of Polyneices, and thus begins her adventure. Antigone is truly a tragic hero, marked by her station as son of Oedipus, and†¦show more content†¦This is self evident in an exchange between Creon and his son Haemon, who was in love with Antigone and slated to marry her: (Creon): So this creature is no criminal, eh? They should be skilled in leadership, problem-solving and emotional roles (P. 259). The emotional role will be discussed more in depth when presenting the changing attitudes concept.
